Johnson scored 20 points and lifted the Broncos to a 49-44 win Saturday against North Kansas City in a Missouri Class 5 quarterfinal playoff game. Three days later, Johnson was announced as a finalist for the DiRenna Award, awarded to the top player in Kansas City. After another victory Thursday, Lee’s Summit North will play for the Class 5 state title at 2:40 p.m. Saturday at Mizzou Arena in Columbia.

Joe Schneider • SCHOOL:

Lansing

• YEAR:

Senior

• SPORT:

Basketball

Schneider, who has signed with Air Force, averaged 17.6 points per game in Lansing’s undefeated Kansas Class 5A state championship run last week. He led the Lions in scoring in two of those games, with 24 points against St. Thomas Aquinas and 10 points against Highland Park. He also had 19 against Wichita Heights for the state champion Lions.
