Miege boys basketball coach retires

After just two seasons at the helm of the Bishop Miege boys basketball program, head coach Fred Turner announced on Monday that he was retiring.

Turner, who has been coaching in the high school or collegiate ranks for the past 38 years, was inducted into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame in 2006 and the Greater Kansas City Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2012.

"He has been successful and knowledgeable," Miege athletic director Mike Hubka said. "He has tried to keep us going in the right direction."

The Stags made it to sub-state last season and went 14-27 under his leadership.
