The Star’s high school athletes of the week for Feb. 27

Keaton Cross • SCHOOL:

Shawnee Mission Northwest

Cross led Shawnee Mission Northwest with 25 points, which included three three-pointers, last week in a victory against Olathe East. Then he added a team-high 15 points against Shawnee Mission West as SM Northwest clinched a share of the Sunflower League title. He is averaging 11.4 points per game.

Monique Townson • SCHOOL:

Staley

• YEAR:

Senior

• SPORT:

Basketball

Townson scored 34 points in a one-point win against William Chrisman last week, followed by 28 points in a two-point victory against North Kansas City. The performances helped Staley move to the top of the Suburban White Conference entering Thursday. Townson has signed to play with Arkansas-Little Rock next year.
