NBA player Alec Burks will return to Grandview High School on Friday
Former Grandview High School basketball star Alec Burks has blossomed into an NBA regular for the Utah Jazz.
He will return to his high school roots Friday night.
With the NBA in the midst of its all-star break, Burks plans to return to Grandview High School on Friday, when he and other former players will be recognized during halftime of the boys basketball game. Grandview plays host to Raytown South at 7 p.m.
Burks was named the Missouri Gatorade player of the year in 2009, his senior year with Grandview. He also won the DiRenna Award, given to the top high school basketball player in the Kansas City metropolitan area.
After two college seasons with Colorado, Burks was selected 12th overall by the Jazz in the 2011 NBA Draft. He is averaging 13.4 points per game this season.
