FRIDAY’S GAMES TO WATCH

Lee’s Summit (2-0) at Fort Osage (2-0)

The top-ranked team in the Missouri Class 5 state poll resides in the Fort Osage hallways, and thus the Indians’ 2-0 start to the season is much more expected than it is surprising.

An unbeaten Lee’s Summit team lies on the other end of the spectrum. After replacing Simone Award winner Drew Lock, the Tigers have still opened the season with two victories, and they have relied more on defense than their spread offense. Lee’s Summit has allowed only one touchdown this season.

It could be tough to replicate that Friday.

Fort Osage quarterback Skylar Thompson is one of the top talents in the Kansas City area, a dual-threat signal caller who did all of his work on the ground last week. He ran for four touchdowns in a comeback win against Blue Springs.

Bolivar (2-0) at Harrisonville (2-0)

A pair of teams fighting for position among the elite programs in Missouri Class 4 meet at Memorial Stadium in Harrisonville. They have split the matchup over the past two seasons.

Harrisonville, ranked sixth in Class 4, has found an offensive balance after an 11-win season in 2014. Isack Jordan, Dallas Justice, Brandon Eickhorst and Chance Chamberlain all scored in last week’s win against Savannah.

Bolivar, which was one vote shy of cracking the Class 4 state poll, has outscored its opponents 80-13 over the first two weeks.
