The Star’s All-Metro gymnastics team

The Star’s All-Metro gymnastics teamGrace Bartle, Lawrence Fress State, junior.

Following a third-place finish at the Sunflower League meet, Bartle won gold medals in the floor routine and beam at the Kansas state meet. With a second-place overall finish, she led the Firebirds to their second team championship in three seasons.

Sam Bond, Olathe East, freshman.

A rising star, Bond finished in the top four of all four events at the Kansas state meet, including a silver-medal performance in the floor exercise. With her help, the Hawks finished in fourth place.

Jessie Payne, Olathe Northwest, sophomore.

With the second-best vault score in state history, Payne won the all-around state title. She also placed first on the bars and led Olathe Northwest to a second-place team finish.

Megan Vanderpool, SM West, senior.

A Sunflower League All-Around champion, she finished in the top three in the beam, uneven parallel bars and vault to help the Vikings take third place at the Kansas State Meet.

Olivia Williams, SM Northwest, freshman.
