The Star’s All-Metro football: First-team offense
A seven-touchdown performance in week two was only the start of a special season for Lock, a Division I prospect. He threw for 3,062 yards and 35 touchdowns, leading the Tigers to a 10-win season.
RUNNING BACKBrock Broughton, Kearney, senior.The Bulldogs made it to the Missouri Class 5 state semifinals, riding their workhorse tailback. With his combination of speed and power, Broughton totaled 2,535 yards and 38 touchdowns. He has committed to Western Illinois.
Dalvin Warmack, Blue Springs, senior.The first two-time winner of the Simone Award scored 80 touchdowns during the last two seasons — both ending in Blue Springs state championships. Warmack, who will attend Kansas State, totaled 2,500 yards and 33 touchdowns this year.
Wrench, who will attend Kansas, led the Blazers with 2,091 yards in 260 carries and scored 30 touchdowns. Wrench was also selected the Eastern Kansas League offensive player of the year, made the Kansas Football Coaches Association Top 11 team and was a finalist for the Simone Award.
WIDE RECEIVERMonte Harrison, Lee’s Summit West, senior.As a receiver, rusher and punt returner, Harrison had a combined 28 touchdowns. He caught 60 passes for 1,007 yards for the state-champion Titans. He plans to attend Nebraska on a baseball and football scholarship.
Khalil Bailey, Lansing, senior.A two-sport athlete for the Lions, Bailey recorded 1,487 yards on 64 receptions with 17 touchdowns this season. He was a finalist for the Otis Taylor Award at the Simone Awards ceremony.
OFFENSIVE LINEMike Fairchild, Blue Valley West, senior.Fairchild, who will attend Missouri, was chosen first-team all-state by the Kansas Football Coaches Association and first-team All-Eastern Kansas League. He helped the Jaguars to a substate appearance and an 8-4 record.
Jacob Francis, Liberty, senior.The 6-4, 290-pound guard helped pave the way for an offense that averaged 31 points per game. He is a three-time all-state selection.
AJ Harris, Blue Valley, junior.Harris helped lead the Tigers to a 10-3 record and the Kansas Class 5A state championship. He was an All-Eastern Kansas League first-team pick and has a handful of Division I offers.
Kevin Pendleton, Lee’s Summit West, senior.A diverse rushing attack fueled the Titans’ state championship run. Pendleton, a 6-5, 320-pound tackle, proved a versatile player in those plans. He has committed to Missouri.
