The Star’s All-Metro girls tennis team
SinglesSara Goodwin, Kansas City Christian, senior.After back-to-back state championships her sophomore and junior seasons, Goodwin finished third this past year in the Kansas Class 3-1A state tournament. She went 25-2, losing to Anna Reidmiller of Wichita Independent 5-7, 6-3, 6-2 in the semifinals.
Michaela Henne, Notre Dame de Sion, junior.A year after reaching the Missouri Class 2 state tournament as part of a doubles team, Henne qualified in singles this fall. She lost only four singles matches all season and had a 9-2 record in the regular season.
Tess Herder, Lee’s Summit, senior.She won the Missouri Class 2 state championship in October and compiled a 22-2 record during her senior season. Her two losses came against fellow All-Metro first-teamers Sara Goodwin and Alena Frye.
In her first season of high school tennis, Sneed had a perfect 24-0 record and won the Kansas Class 6A singles title while leading the Lancers to their third straight state team title.
DoublesBarstow: Alena Frye, senior, and Madeleine Tadros, senior.These two finished the season 21-0 and formed the only undefeated doubles team in school history, highlighting their run with a Missouri Class 1 state championship. Frye was the Missouri Class 1 singles champion last season.
Blue Valley: Alexa Tiefel, junior, and Morgan Steffes, sophomore.This team went 15-1 on their way to a first-place finish at the 6A state championship, dropping just five games along the way. Their one loss came to Shawnee Mission East’s Olivia Sneed and Elizabeth Barnickel.
