Kansas City area high school football schedule for Oct. 24-25

Here are two games in the spotlight on Friday’s Kansas City area high school football schedule:

Both of these teams could gain stretch-run momentum from this district game. They each enter with just one loss.

Olathe South has won four consecutive games since a one-point loss to Olathe North. Most recently, the Falcons are coming off a 22-point victory against Blue Valley Northwest.

Blue Valley has won four in a row since its loss to Bishop Miege and has held opponents to 21 points or fewer in every game this season. The Tigers defeated Gardner Edgerton 70-20 last Friday.

Few teams will cherish the opportunity to wipe the slate clean entering the postseason more than Park Hill South and Liberty, a pair of schools that had high expectations for this season but didn’t see the victories pile up.

Liberty defeated Park Hill South 24-21 in the regular season behind 161 rushing yards and two touchdowns from Devon Bryant. Liberty led 24-0 before staving off a late rally.

And that was indicative of the Park Hill South regular season. It finished only 3-6, but four of those six losses came by three points or fewer. The Panthers scored 97 points over the past two weeks. Shaefer Schuetz threw nine touchdowns over the span, including three to Mitch Henderson and two each to Tanner McClaran, Dillon Thomas and Alfoncio Rand.

The winner of the Missouri Class 5 matchup will face unbeaten Park Hill next week.
