See Monday’s semifinal winners at William Jewell Holiday Classic basketball event

The 46th annual William Jewell Holiday Classic boys high school basketball tournament continues through Tuesday at William Jewell College in Liberty. Here’s a look at some highlights from semifinal games played Monday:

Holley Division

Blue Springs South 84, Pembroke Hill 53

Blue Springs South stands a win away from consecutive Jewell Classic titles after a resounding 84-53 quarterfinal win Monday. Maksim Hymiller fired in 32 points, while Blayne Marshall added 23 to help the Jaguars build a 49-29 lead by halftime.

Mavrick Hawkins paced the Raiders with 26 points.

Battle 66, Park Hill 46

Battle eyes a three-peat in the Jewell Classic after a 66-46 romp over Park Hill on Monday. Caden Lewis led the Spartans with 19 points, while Brandon Rooks Jr. added 16.

Donnovan Fonville led the Trojans with 12 points and nine rebounds.

Holley Division schedule (Tuesday, Dec. 30):

Third-place: Pembroke Hill vs. Park Hill, 1:30 p.m.

Championship: Blue Springs South vs. Battle, 9 p.m.

Patterson Division

Liberty North 57, Center 47

Liberty North surged in the third quarter to propel past Center 57-47 on Monday. The Yellowjackets held a 26-21 halftime lead, but Ayden Johnston’s 13 points and Jack Henry’s 10 helped LNHS to a 23-9 third-quarter run for a 44-35 lead. The Eagles will look for their first Jewell Classic title since 2015.

Brennan Eubank’s 10 points and 10 rebounds led Center, while Israel Johnigan added 10 points.

Oak Park 68, Grandview 36

Oak Park enjoyed an easy stroll into the Patterson Division title game, as four Northmen reached double digits in scoring for a 68-36 win over Grandview. Jakaya Duff led Oak Park with 17 points followed by Landon Vanpelt’s 14. Adam Tanner (12) and Josh Kori (10) also netted double digits, with each grabbing seven rebounds.

Patterson Division schedule (Tuesday, Dec. 30):

Third-place: Grandview vs. Center, 4:30 p.m.

Championship: Oak Park vs. Liberty North, 7:30 p.m.

Nelson Division

Blue Springs 68, Rock Bridge 53

Four Wildcats registered double digits in scoring to boost BSHS into the Nelson Division title game. Da’Quan Hicks led Blue Springs with 15 points, while Jacob Schlutow (14), Nyland White (12) and Terrance Green (11) also fueled the balanced attack.

Liberty 61, Summit Christian Academy 51

The Blue Jays will play for their first Jewell Classic title since 2021 after a 61-51 overtime victory on Monday.

Summit Christian held a 25-20 halftime lead behind a game-high 19 points from Mike Thomas III. But LHS rallied in the second half, as Rocco Montuori netted 14 points while Ethan Anderson (13) and Mason Fleming (11) also added double-digit scoring.

Liberty prospered from 14-of-15 shooting from the free-throw line to enjoy a 10-point margin in overtime.

Nelson Division schedule (Tuesday, Dec. 30):

Third-place: Rock Bridge vs. Summit Christian Academy, 3 p.m.

Championship: Blue Springs vs. Liberty, 6 p.m.
