Missouri’s state championship games for high school football, known collectively as the Show-Me Bowl, played out this weekend at Spratt Memorial Stadium in St. Joseph.

Neither the Platte County Pirates nor Kearney Bulldogs had to travel very far to lay claim to state titles.

Lee’s Summit traveled a little farther, but the Tigers’ journey was just as fruitful.

The Pirates came from Platte City and defended their Class 5 Missouri championship Friday night with a 34-28 overtime victory over Carthage.

On Saturday, Class 4 Kearney — another nearby program — captured a championship victory of its own by beating Hannibal 21-14.

In this year’s marquee Show-Me Bowl clash, the Class 6 showdown between Lee’s Summit and Nixa, it was a shootout.

The Tigers got a 400-plus-yard night from Preston Hatfield and outlasted Nixa 41-37, tossing a remarkable cherry on top of a big-time turnaround this year. Lee’s Summit started the season 0-4.

Earlier Saturday, Springfield’s Blair Oaks repeated as Class 3 champ with a 59-0 blowout of St. Pius X of Festus.

In Friday’s Class 1 title game, Tipton beat Putnam County 39-14. And Seneca beat Lift for Life of St. Louis 33-26 for the Class 3 championship.

The 2025 Show-Me Bowl games started Thursday evening, when Worth County/Northeast Nodaway beat Rock Port 56-46 for the MSHSAA (Missouri State High School Activities Association) 8-Man championship.
