Check out Day 2 highlights from the Holiday Classic high school hoops at William Jewell

Here are some Saturday highlights from the annual William Jewell Holiday Classic high school basketball tournament, which is taking place at the Mabee Center at William Jewell College in Liberty.

The tournament field — featuring 24 teams playing a total of 33 scheduled games in four days — is broken into three brackets: The Patterson, Nelson and Holley divisions.

The tourney concludes Monday.

Raytown South 55, Central 43

Donovan Fletcher-Pruitt scored a game-high 14 points and senior Kanai Brown chipped in 13 to propel Raytown South into the Holley Division semifinals.

The Cardinals held a slim 14-13 lead after the first quarter but went on a 20-7 surge in the second period. Zavion Pauley netted eight points off the bench to fuel the run.

Raytown South will take on Liberty in the semifinals at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Fort Osage outlasted Central in the consolation bracket, 84-83, on Sunday morning.

Liberty 65, Fort Osage 53

Kale Mortimer fired in five 3-pointers en route to a game-high 21 points, helping Liberty to a 65-53 first-round win over Fort Osage on Saturday evening.

The Blue Jays (6-2) entered the second period down 14-12, but five points each from Mortimer and Mason Cash sent LHS into halftime up 30-25.

Cash scored nine more in the third quarter to help push the Jays’ lead to 14, at 50-36. The junior finished with 16.

Liberty will face Raytown South in the semifinals at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Fort Osage went on to beat Central in Sunday morning’s consolation game.

Blue Springs 58, Belton 48

Blue Springs’ Malik Lewis and Darnell Hicks scored 20 of their combined 26 points in the second half.

The Wildcats held a slim 28-27 halftime lead, but the two seniors warmed up to push the margin to 41-34 after the third period. Lewis and Hicks each finished with a team-high 13 points, while junior Devin Jackson added 10.

Blue Springs was to take on Battle (Columbia) at 6 p.m. Sunday, while Belton was to face Van Horn in the consolation bracket.
