Another week of high school football in Kansas City is in the books, and teams are one week closer to the start of the district playoffs. And more student-athletes are starting to have breakout performances as they approach the final games of the year.

You can now vote on the best performance of the week.

The Star is holding a weekly poll for readers to vote for their favorite student-athlete. The poll will be posted online each Wednesday, with voting open until Thursday night. The winner is announced each Friday.

To put together the poll, The Star asks high school football coaches around the metro for their nominations and looks at statistics posted by schools on high school sports websites like 810 Varsity and MaxPreps. The Week 5 winner was Basehor-Linwood High School junior Carson Dixon.
