Madison Duello
SCHOOL: Liberty
YEAR: Senior
SPORT: Volleyball
Liberty won the Independence Invitational on Saturday, pushing its volleyball record to 25-0-2 this season, and Duello was again at the forefront of the Blue Jays’ attack. Duello had 13 kills in the championship against Platte County, giving her 312 for the season. Duello, a Wisconsin commit, is ranked as the ninth-best volleyball recruit in the country.

Joe Gorthy
SCHOOL: Blue Valley
YEAR: Senior
SPORT: Cross country
Gorthy finished first with a time of 15 minutes, 35 seconds last week at the Mill Valley Classic and led the Tigers to a team championship. This season he also finished first at the Olathe East, Paola and Bonner Springs meets and placed second at the Metro Championships and Rim Rock meet.
