Liberty North finishes perfect season with Class 4 girls soccer championship: Results
It couldn’t have been a better Saturday for the Liberty North athletic programs, as the girls soccer and baseball teams earned state championships in Missouri just moments apart.
The girls soccer Eagles (22-0) finished their perfect season with a championship win over Nerinx Hall (19-3-1) in a game that was much closer than the Eagles’ 8-0 semifinal win over Kickapoo in the Class 4 semifinal.
Liberty North led 3-1 after the first half on Saturday, but Nerinx Hall climbed back into the game with a pair of second-half goals. That brought on an overtime period in which Ekaterina Theoharidis and Megan Hinnenkamp combined for a goal that put the Eagles over the top.
Theoharidis, who had a hat trick in the semifinal round, assisted Hinnenkamp’s winning goal, which was her third score of the game. Hinnenkamp scored when Liberty North trailed 1-0 in the early moments of the contest and then again less than a minute later to put the Eagles up 2-1.
Theoharidis finished with three goals and three assists from the semifinal round-on.
Here’s a look at other scores and results at the Missouri soccer state championships. All MSHSAA state semifinal and title matches took place at the World Wide Technology Soccer Complex in Fenton.
