With one more week left before district play in Kansas, here are predictions for five Friday night high school football games.

Week 5 record: 5-0

Overall record: 18-7

Blue Valley (4-1) at St. Thomas Aquinas (4-1)

Each of these two teams only has one loss this season and both came against Eastern Kansas League leader Bishop Miege. Blue Valley and St. Thomas Aquinas have put in a good battle for second and third, however. This will be their final test before they split into their separate classifications.

Prediction: Blue Valley 31, St. Thomas Aquinas 24

Olathe East (3-2) at Shawnee Mission West (1-4)

Both these teams are coming off a loss and could use another victory going into district play. Olathe East fell to Shawnee Mission Northwest, which previously only had one victory. Shawnee Mission West lost to Olathe South, which only had one loss.

Prediction: Olathe East 24, Shawnee Mission West 17

Turner (3-2) at Piper (4-1)

Piper will try to bounce back from a 31-24 loss to Bonner Springs last Friday, which was its first loss of the season. Turner won its first three games of the season, but has dropped the last two. The Golden Bears are looking for redemption.

Prediction: Piper 27, Turner 21

Shawnee Mission Northwest (2-3) at Olathe Northwest (3-2)

This could be a good battle between two teams that are right in the middle of the Sunflower League standings. Shawnee Mission Northwest picked up its second victory of the season against Olathe East last week. Olathe Northwest picked up its third against Shawnee Mission North.

Prediction: Olathe Northwest 35, Shawnee Mission Northwest 27

Gardner Edgerton (0-5) at Blue Valley North (0-5)

By the end of tonight, one of these two teams will finally have its first victory of the season. Gardner Edgerton was shutout in its first two games of the season, but has scored 21 or more in each of its last three. Blue Valley North has scored more frequently, but was held to seven points last week against Blue Valley.

Prediction: Gardner Edgerton 21, Blue Valley North 17
