KC area high school football schedule for Oct. 10-11

Here are two games in the spotlight on Friday’s Kansas City area high school football schedule:

BLUE VALLEY (4-1) at ST. THOMAS AQUINAS (4-1)

Both of these team’s lone loss came against Bishop Miege. After Miege, these are the Eastern Kansas League’s next two best contenders.

Blue Valley defeated Blue Valley North 35-7 last week, the second straight week the Tigers allowed only one touchdown. This season only one opponent has scored more than 13 points against Blue Valley, and it was Bishop Miege.

Aquinas last week bounced back from its first loss with a 34-21 victory against Gardner Edgerton. Karter Odermann rushed for two touchdowns and passed for another in the victory.

FORT OSAGE (7-0) AT LIBERTY NORTH (5-2)

Liberty North's move to Missouri Class 5 has been a relatively smooth transition. The Eagles have allowed only one opponent this season to reach double-digit points.

Are they ready to compete for a state title?

Friday’s game against Fort Osage could provide the answer.

Fort Osage, the top-ranked team in The Star's big-class poll, has rolled through one of the area's most difficult schedules without a blemish. With quarterback Skylar Thompson leading the passing game and tailback Jesse McBee excelling in his first year in the backfield, Fort Osage is averaging 41.2 points per game.

Adding to the intrigue, a Liberty North victory would create a three-way tie atop the Suburban White Conference standings, provided Staley avoids a loss at Raytown.
