Carly Nusbaum
SCHOOL: St. Thomas Aquinas
YEAR: Senior
SPORT: Volleyball
Nusbaum broke a 10-year-old volleyball school record for career kills when she notched her 1,117th kill in a recent match against Bishop Miege. She finished the night with 1,123 kills. She was selected to the Lee’s Summit West all-tournament team and was MVP of the Hayden tournament earlier this season.
Stuart McNutt
SCHOOL: Blue Valley West
YEAR: Senior
SPORT: Cross Country
McNutt, who is trying to defend his Kansas Class 6A state championship, won the KC Metro Championships last weekend with a time of 15 minutes, 37.70 seconds. He has also won the Southern Stampede in Joplin and placed third at the Rim Rock Farm Classic this season. McNutt was also The Star’s 2013 All-Metro boys cross country runner of the year.
