Weather affecting Kansas and Missouri high school baseball state playoffs
Here are weather-related updates regarding Kansas high school baseball state tournaments, as reported by the Kansas State High School Activities Association.
The Kansas state tournaments are scheduled to take place on Thursday and Friday at various sites, but weather and forecasts are affecting some sites. Here are updates regarding sites where Kansas City-area teams are scheduled to compete.
* Due to continuing wet field conditions and forecast of weather in Salina, the Kansas 4A Division I baseball state tournament is being postponed to Sunday and Monday. Bishop Miege and Piper are two of the eight teams in the state bracket. On Sunday, Bishop Miege will play Topeka Hayden at 11 a.m., followed by Piper vs. Augusta 30 minutes after the Bishop Miege game ends. The championship and third-place game will be played on Monday.
* The Kansas 4A Division II baseball state tournament in Topeka will be delayed on Thursday and will start at 1 p.m. The tournament was originally scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. and Bishop Ward is scheduled to play in the fourth quarterfinal on Thursday’s schedule. Games will start 30 minutes after the previous game is complete.
* In Missouri, the Class 5 baseball state quarterfinal playoff game between Lee’s Summit West and Staley, originally scheduled for 2 p.m. on Thursday at Staley, has been postponed and will now be played at 4 p.m. on Friday at Staley.
