Missouri: Justin Mitchell
SCHOOL: Platte County
YEAR: Sophomore
Mitchell threw for a career-best 305 yards and added three touchdowns in a 35-19 win over Winnetonka. In his first year as a starter, Mitchell has thrown for 10 touchdowns in five weeks. Platte County is unbeaten entering Friday’s game against Belton.

Kansas: Dawson Downing
SCHOOL: Bishop Miege
YEAR: Junior
Downing had two rushing and two receiving touchdowns for the Stags in last week’s 42-21 victory over Kansas Class 5A defending state champion Blue Valley. Miege improved to 3-0. Downing has 521 rushing yards on 78 carries and seven touchdowns this season, and he has caught three passes for 42 yards and two touchdowns.
