KC area high school football schedule for Sept. 26-27
Here are two games in the spotlight on Friday’s Kansas City area high school football schedule:
BLUE SPRINGS (4-1) AT ROCKHURST (4-1)
It's a pretty safe bet that Friday's game between two traditional powerhouse football programs will turn into a playoff preview.
Rockhurst and Blue Springs have met in the postseason in eight of the past 12 years. They have combined to win six of the past 13 Missouri Class 6 state championships.
They're contenders once again.
Blue Springs, the two-time defending state champions, rolled to its most impressive win of the season last week — a 47-28 victory against Lee's Summit. The Wildcats can pressure the quarterback as well as anybody with Carlos Davis, Khalil Davis and Trevon Warmack on the defensive line.
That trio will make things tough for Rockhurst senior quarterback T.J. Green, who has enjoyed a breakout season. Green threw four touchdowns in a 42-0 win against Blue Springs South last week, including three to his new favorite target in the passing game — Will Bazzle.

BISHOP MIEGE (3-0) at ST. THOMAS AQUINAS (3-0)
Even though Bishop Miege and St. Thomas Aquinas are no longer in the same classification, this rivalry game will not lose any of its edge. The Eastern Kansas League’s two Catholic schools each bring a 3-0 record and the momentum from a 20-plus point league victory into Friday’s matchup.
Bishop Miege is coming off a 42-21 victory against Blue Valley, sparked by junior running back Dawson Downing’s four touchdowns. Aquinas proved it also can be dangerous on the ground with a 35-7 victory over Blue Valley Northwest. The Saints had five rushing touchdowns, including two each by James Cosentino and Chris Bollig.
