Pahls places second at Kansas Class 4A state golf
Piper’s Eric Pahls did not have the smoothest start to his round at the Kansas Class 4A state tournament, but his performance on the back nine got him back on track for a runner-up finish Wednesday.
Pahls bogeyed his second hole and was 3 over par after eight, but he birdied three of the next 10 holes and shot 70, finishing even par at Turkey Creek Golf Course in McPherson.
“I stepped on the range and was hitting the ball really well,” Pahls said. “I had a good feeling about today, my mind was right and I was excited to play.”
Teammate Nick Delaquila shot a 78, which was good for 31st place after a seven-way tie for 27th.
De Soto’s Daniel Lee was the only other Kansas City area medalist. He finished 20th with a 76. De Soto took seventh place as a team.
Immaculata wins Class 1A
Dawson Schroeder led Immaculata to a Class 1A state golf title with a first place finish at Spring Creek Golf Course in Seneca. Schroeder shot a 75 and teammate Evin Wheaton shot an 83, which was good enough for fifth place.
