Rockhurst, Lee’s Summit, Van Horn stumble in state soccer semis

The Lee’s Summit and Rockhurst boys soccer teams both lost in the Missouri Class 4 semifinals of the state tournament on Friday in Fenton.

Rockhurst had a tough time getting anything going at all in its game and fell to Christian Brothers College High School 3-0.

Lee’s Summit played DeSmet to a draw through regulation, but DeSmet came through with a goal in overtime and triumphed 1-0.

Lee’s Summit and Rockhurst will square off in the third-place game at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Van Horn loses in 3A: Van Horn also saw its chance at a state title end Friday. Van Horn, which came back from a 3-0 deficit and cut it to 3-2, ultimately fell to Ft. Zumwalt South 5-2 in the Class 3A semifinals.

Van Horn will play Springfield Glendale for third place in Fenton at noon Saturday.
