Olathe East added another championship trophy to its case of high school gymnastics hardware on Saturday, winning the Kansas state championships hosted by Shawnee Mission South.

It’s the eighth state team title for Olathe East, which also won championships in 2002, 2003, 2007, 2008, 2012, 2015 and 2016.

Olathe East accumulated a 105.150 score for the victory. Lawrence finished second with 103.225 and Shawnee Mission South was third with 100.925.

Talia Gay of Free State won the all-around with a score of 36.350. Then came a 2-through-4 run of Olathe East medalists: Anna Vogel second at 35.300; Kelsey Meyer third at 35.100; and Liz Wasinger fourth with 34.675.

Top three in the vault were Josie Hickerson (9.6 average) and Paris Spotted Tail (9.55), both of Lawrence, followed by Free State’s Gay (9.3).
