SUNFLOWER LEAGUE
1. Shawnee Mission East (2-0, 1-0)
Last week: Defeated Shawnee Mission South 48-10
The Lancers keep rolling and have now outscored opponents 88-10 in their first two victories of the season.
2. Olathe North (2-0, 1-0)
Last week: Defeated Lawrence Free State 14-7
The Eagles have narrowly won their first two games by a combined 13 points. They face a surging Olathe South this week.
3. Olathe South (2-0, 1-0)
Last week: Defeated Olathe East 46-17
The Falcons had a 33-3 lead by halftime and kept the Hawks out of the endzone until deep into the fourth quarter.
4. Lawrence Free State (1-1, 1-1)
Last week: Lost to Olathe North 14-7
After building up a halftime lead, the Firebirds were forced to punt five times after the break.
5. Olathe East (1-1, 0-1)
Last week: Lost to Olathe South 46-17
The Hawks must try to regroup and refocus after the injury and emotional situation on Friday night with linebacker James McGinnis, who is in the hospital after undergoing emergency surgery.
6. Lawrence (1-1, 1-0)
Last week: Defeated Leavenworth 21-14
The Lions overcame a late fumble to preserve their one-touchdown lead and forced four straight incompletions to end the game.
7. Olathe Northwest (1-1, 1-0)
Last week: Defeated Shawnee Mission West 22-0
The Ravens bounced back from a close loss to Hays. They forced four turnovers and blocked a punt last week.
8. Shawnee Mission South (1-1, 1-1)
Last week: Lost to Shawnee Mission East 48-10
After a solid Week 1 performance the Raiders took a step back with a blowout rivalry game setback.
9. Shawnee Mission West (0-2, 0-2)
Last week: Lost to Olathe Northwest 22-0
The Vikings are still looking for a victory and have scored just two touchdowns in their first two games.
10. Leavenworth (1-1, 0-1)
Last week: Lost to Lawrence 21-14
The Pioneers had a chance last week when they got the ball with about seven minutes remaining, but they could not convert.
11. Shawnee Mission Northwest (1-1, 1-0)
Last week: Defeated Shawnee Mission North 34-32
The Cougars jumped out to a 24-0 lead, then barely hung on for a narrow victory with a game-winning field goal from Jonathan Killeen.
12. Shawnee Mission North (0-2, 0-2)
Last week: Lost to Shawnee Mission Northwest 34-32
The Indians overcame an early 24-point deficit, but a game winning field goal by SM Northwest dealt the Indians their 21st consecutive loss.
EASTERN KANSAS LEAGUE
1. Blue Valley (2-0, 1-0)
Last week: Defeated Blue Valley West 30-13
Quarterback Colton McCumber threw for a touchdown and ran for another, and gave the Tigers a spark.
2. Bishop Miege (2-0, 2-0)
Last week: Defeated Gardner Edgerton 29-0
The Stags continue to impress. They have scored 80 points after the first two weeks.
3. Blue Valley West (1-1, 0-1)
Last week: Lost to Blue Valley 30-13
The Jaguars struggled to match the physicality of Blue Valley and turned the ball over four times in the loss.
4. Blue Valley Northwest (1-1, 0-1)
Last week: Defeated Mill Valley 34-26
The Huskies bounced back nicely from a Week 1 loss to Bishop Miege, with four touchdowns from Miles Alexander.
5. St. Thomas Aquinas (2-0, 1-0)
Last week: Defeated Blue Valley North 49-20
First-year coach Randy Dreiling has the Saints off to a solid start. A big test looms in this week’s opponent, Blue Valley Northwest.
6. Blue Valley Southwest (2-0, 1-0)
Last week: Defeated Shawnee Heights 21-19
The Timberwolves pulled out a pair of close victories in the first two weeks. On deck is a struggling Gardner Edgerton squad.
7. Blue Valley North (0-2, 0-2)
Last week: Lost to St. Thomas Aquinas 49-20.
The Mustangs have scored 19 and 20 points in their first two games, but are still looking for their first win in two seasons.
8. Gardner Edgerton (0-2, 0-1)
Last week: Lost to Bishop Miege 29-0
Been a rough start for the Trailblazers, who have been shutout in each of their first two games.
OTHER 913 COVERAGE AREA SCHOOLS
1. St. James Academy (2-0, independent)
Last week: Defeated Wyandotte 36-14
The Thunder looked sharp with two touchdowns through the air, two on the ground and one on an interception return last week.
2. De Soto (1-1, 0-1)
Last week: Lost to Paola 24-0
It’s feast or famine for De Soto. After an explosive 70-point offensive performance in Week 1, De Soto struggled in a shutout.
3. Spring Hill (1-1, 0-1)
Last week: Lost to Fort Scott 27-13
The Broncos were tied at 13 with seven minutes left in the game last week, but gave up two unanswered touchdowns.
4. Mill Valley (0-2, 0-0)
Last week: Lost to Blue Valley Northwest 34-26
Logan Koch is a bright spot this season, with three rushing touchdowns last week.
