Olathe East linebacker James McGinnis critical but stable
Olathe East senior linebacker James McGinnis is still in critical but stable condition according to HCA Midwest assistant vice president Chris Hamele, who released a statement Monday on behalf of the family.
“As of late this afternoon, there is no change in his condition,” Hamele said. “He remains in critical, but stable condition. At this time the family does not have further comment except #PrayForJames.”
McGinnis was transported to Overland Park Regional Medical Center after collapsing during Friday night’s game against Olathe South. He underwent emergency surgery to stop bleeding around his brain and relieve swelling. The surgery was successful and McGinnis was moved to intensive care early Saturday morning.
