Former Truman High School standout Paige Parker has made the transition to college softball look rather easy.
Parker, an Oklahoma Sooners freshman, was chosen Wednesday as the Big 12 Conference pitcher of the year and the league's co-freshman of the year.
In 36 starts this season, Parker has posted a 1.45 earned run average — tops in the Big 12. She has held opponents to a league-low .170 batting average and has recorded 199 strikeouts.
Earlier this season, Parker became only the third player in NCAA history to throw four perfect games in a single season.
