The Star’s high school football players of the week for Sept. 12

Missouri: Chase Overton

▪ SCHOOL: Lee’s Summit North

▪ YEAR: Senior

In a 40-25 win against North Kansas City, Overton contributed in all three phases. He returned a fumble for a touchdown and registered seven solo tackles and 16 assisted tackles on defense. He filled in for an injured teammate on offense and promptly ran for a pair of touchdowns. And he blocked a punt for the special teams unit.

Kansas: Trey Keith

▪ SCHOOL: St. James Academy

▪ YEAR: Junior

Keith contributed to all five of the Thunder’s touchdowns in its 35-7 week one victory against Pleasant Hill. He completed 12 of his 20 passes for 204 yards and threw four touchdowns to four different receivers. He also rushed for 47 yards and a touchdown on six carries.
