THE STAR’S ALL-METRO BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM

FIRST TEAM

Anthony Bonner; Lawrence; senior

The Sunflower League player of the year led the Chesty Lions to a perfect conference record and second-place finish in Kansas Class 6A. Bonner, a Colorado State signee, averaged 19.3 points per game and shot 55 percent from the field.

Jeriah Horne; Barstow; junior

The leader of Barstow’s “big three,” Horne scored 20.1 points per game and added 10 rebounds per contest, which helped Barstow cruise to the Missouri Class 3 state championship.

Drew Lock; Lee’s Summit; senior

Better known for his talents on the football field, Lock was equally impressive on the basketball court, where he averaged 18.8 points and eight rebounds per game. He finished his career with 1,887 points.

Kevin Puryear; Blue Springs South; senior

The Missouri signee was a matchup nightmare, and he scored 20.1 points and grabbed 7.8 rebounds per game. That helped the Jaguars claim their first Missouri Class 5 championship in school history.

Landry Shamet; Park Hill; senior

A Wichita State signee, Shamet backed up his status as the area’s top-ranked senior recruit, producing 18.3 points, 6.4 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.4 blocks per game. He also shot 52 percent from the field and 39 percent from three-point range.
