Kansas high school football rankings: Just two area schools remain ranked in 6A
Shawnee Mission East and Lawrence Free State are the only Kansas City area schools that remain ranked in Class 6A rankings compiled by Varsity Kansas following the fifth week of the football season.
Blue Valley (3-2) had been ranked fourth, but fell out of the top five with a loss to undefeated St. James Academy.
St. James gained ground in Class 5A after Bishop Carroll lost to Class 6A defending champion Derby. Second-ranked Aquinas will host St. James on Friday to battle for second place in the Eastern Kansas League.
Basehor-Linwood, which outscored opponents 223-0 in its first four games, is no longer ranked in Class 4A-Division I. The Bobcats lost their first game of the season to Bonner Springs last week. They are now third in the Kaw Valley League, which features an undefeated and unranked Tonganoxie.
