Lawrence Free State retains top spot in Week 4 Kansas high school football rankings
There wasn’t much movement in rankings compiled by Varsity Kansas after Week 4 of football action in Kansas high schools.
Lawrence Free State remains the top team in the state and Class 6A. Free State extended its streak to 4-0 with a 49-6 win over Shawnee Mission Northwest last week. The Firebirds have outscored opponents 175-31 this season. They will play Olathe South at the Olathe District Athletic Complex on Friday.
In Class 5A, St. James stayed put at No. 4 after narrowly beating Blue Valley Northwest 17-14. The undefeated Thunder will play Blue Valley, which dropped to fourth in Class 6A after defending Class 6A champion Derby dropped 61 points in a win over Hutchinson, on Friday at Bishop Miege.
Basehor-Linwood and De Soto, which both improved to 4-0 last week, climbed up a spot in the Class 4A-Division I rankings.
