Last weekend was a time for crowing state champions in Kansas. And teams from Johnson County took home a good deal of those titles.

Olathe Northwest won the Class 6A state softball title in thrilling fashion, edging Olathe East 6-5 with a run in the bottom of the seventh inning in Lawrence. Olathe East reached the final earlier in the day by beating Olathe South 10-9 in eight innings. Spring Hill won the Class 4A Division I with a 2-0 victory over Paola in the final in Salina.

Blue Valley won the Class 6A baseball title, downing Manhattan 12-8 in the championship game Friday in Lawrence. St. Thomas Aquinas made it to the Class 5A final but fell to Maize 5-4.

Blue Valley West is the champion of Class 6A girls soccer after downing Blue Valley North 2-1 in the title game in Topeka. Blue Valley Southwest won the Class 5A championship by beating Aquinas 2-0 in Newton, and Bishop Miege won its second consecutive Class 4-1A title with a 1-0 victory over Thomas Moore Prep-Marian of Hays in the final at Wichita.
