Spring Hill claims second consecutive Kansas 4A-DI softball championship

Spring Hill repeated as Kansas Class 4A-DI state softball champion with a 2-0 victory over Frontier League rival Paola on Friday in Salina.

Spring Hill (20-4) reached the championship game at the Bill Burke Complex with an 8-0 shutout of Independence earlier in the day.

Paola, which finished its season 22-2, had advanced Friday with a 6-2 victory over another Kansas City-area school, Piper.

Independence beat Piper 7-4 in Friday afternoon’s third-place game.
