Here are the Eastern Kansas League football rankings after Week 7, including league record, overall record, last week’s result, this week’s opponent and a comment.

1. Blue Valley (7-0, 7-0)

Beat Blue Valley Northwest, 42-7; Friday vs. St. Thomas Aquinas

In the last month of its still-perfect season, Blue Valley has scored 42-plus points in each game.

2. Bishop Miege (6-1, 6-1)

Beat Eudora, 51-0; Friday at De Soto

Six different players were involved in Miege’s touchdowns last week. But the Miege defense also recorded its first shutout of the season against Eudora.

3. St. Thomas Aquinas (5-2, 5-2)

Lost to Blue Valley Southwest, 30-27; Friday at Blue Valley

One of the top teams in the EKL this season suffered a stunning loss to previously-winless Blue Valley Southwest, even after holding a lead with six minutes to play in the fourth quarter last week.

4. Blue Valley North (4-3, 4-3)

Beat Mill Valley, 52-23; Friday vs. Blue Valley Southwest

Blue Valley North has been strong the last few weeks, recording two shutout victories and rolling over defending Class 5A state champion Mill Valley.

5. Mill Valley (3-4, 3-4)

Lost to Blue Valley North, 52-23; Friday vs. Gardner Edgerton

The defending Class 5A state champs hit a mid-season snag and haven’t recovered; they’ve lost four straight within a tough schedule.

6. Gardner Edgerton (3-4, 3-4)

Lost to Blue Valley West, 20-7; Friday at Mill Valley

It’s been a roller coaster of a season for Gardner Edgerton; last week was one of the low points, as the team only scored one touchdown on its way to its fourth league loss.

7. St. James Academy (2-4, 3-4)

Beat Kapaun-Mt. Carmel, 28-17; Friday vs. Blue Valley West

St. James got a break from league play last week, and used the opportunity to record its third win of the season.

8. Blue Valley West (2-5, 2-5)

Beat Gardner Edgerton, 20-7; Friday at St. James Academy

Blue Valley West rebounded from a shutout two weeks ago to get its second win of the year against Gardner Edgerton.

9. Blue Valley Northwest (2-5, 2-5)

Lost to Blue Valley, 42-7; Friday at Manhattan

Right after a blowout loss to top EKL team Blue Valley, Blue Valley Northwest does not have much of an easier task this week: A matchup against undefeated Manhattan looms.

10. Blue Valley Southwest (1-6, 1-6)

Beat St. Thomas Aquinas, 30-27; Friday at Blue Valley North

Blue Valley Southwest put together a winning touchdown drive with six minutes to play against St. Thomas Aquinas, and recorded its first win of the season.
