Here are the Eastern Kansas League football rankings after Week 3, including league record, overall record, last week’s result, this week’s opponent and a comment.

1. Blue Valley (4-0, 4-0)

Beat Mill Valley, 45-28; Friday vs. St. James

Matthew Dercher threw for four touchdowns, Will Evans rushed for three, and Blue Valley continues to roll through a perfect start to the season.

2. Bishop Miege (3-1, 3-1)

Beat Blue Valley North, 24-6; Friday vs. Blue Valley West

Miege was held to a season-low in points, but a couple of Jafar Armstrong touchdown receptions helped the Stags to a win.

3. Mill Valley (3-1, 3-1)

Lost to Blue Valley, 45-28; Friday at St. Thomas Aquinas

The offensive unit had a decent outing, but the defense could not keep up with an explosive Blue Valley offense last week.

4. St. Thomas Aquinas (3-1, 3-1)

Beat Blue Valley West, 35-7; Friday vs. Mill Valley

Will Swanson led Aquinas to a win with one passing and two rushing touchdowns, all of 30 yards or more.

5. St. James (2-2, 2-2)

Beat Blue Valley Northwest, 29-20; Friday at Blue Valley

Defense was St. James’ calling card last week, with Travis Pickert recording five sacks, 11 tackles and a safety on the way to the bounce-back win.

6. Gardner Edgerton (2-2, 2-2)

Beat Blue Valley Southwest, 13-7; Thursday at Blue Valley North

Gardner Edgerton had a tough schedule to start the season, but has rebounded and won two in a row.

7. Blue Valley North (1-3, 1-3)

Lost to Bishop Miege, 24-6; Thursday vs. Gardner Edgerton

Raleigh Barthol’s leg was about the only thing working properly for Blue Valley North. His two field goals were North’s only points, although they still managed to keep close with defending Class 4A-DI champion Bishop Miege.

8. Blue Valley West (1-3, 1-3)

Lost to St. Thomas Aquinas, 35-7; Friday at Bishop Miege

Blue Valley West has scored more than seven points in a game only once this season. Its only touchdown last week came defensively, from an Adam Davis interception return.

9. Blue Valley Northwest (1-3, 1-3)

Lost to St. James, 29-20; Friday vs. Blue Valley Southwest

Although offense was still a struggle for Northwest, the team stayed close with St. James off a punt return for a touchdown, interception return for a touchdown and a couple of field goals.

10. Blue Valley Southwest (0-4, 0-4)

Lost to Gardner Edgerton, 13-7; Friday at Blue Valley Northwest

A week after putting up 24 points against defending Class 5A champs Mill Valley, Blue Valley Southwest only managed seven.
