Here are The Star’s high school football rankings for big-class and small-class teams, including record, this week’s opponent and comment. The big-class division is made up of the two largest classes in Missouri and Kansas. All other classes are in the small class.

BIG-CLASS TOP 10

1. Blue Valley ... 3-0 ... Friday at Mill Valley ... A win against Blue Valley North kept the Tigers’ record perfect before their heavyweight matchup with Mill Valley.

2. Rockhurst ... 5-0 ... Friday vs. Blue Springs ... The Hawklets owned all the big plays — forcing six turnovers — in a six-point win against SM East last week.

3. Blue Springs ... 4-1 ... Friday at Rockhurst ... In four straight weeks, the Wildcats have been in a one-possession game in the fourth quarter.

4. Mill Valley ... 3-0 ... Friday vs. Blue Valley ... The Kansas Class 5A defending champion has won their three games by an average of 19 points.

5. Shawnee Mission East ... 2-1 ... Friday at Olathe North ... A loss to Rockhurst last week dropped SM East in the poll, but the Lancers kept it within a touchdown.

6. Raymore-Peculiar ... 4-1 ... Friday at Blue Springs South ... The Panthers’ diverse running attack is giving opponents fits. Four players rushed for scores last week.

7. Liberty ... 5-0 ... Friday vs. Platte County ... The Blue Jays have erased fourth-quarter deficits in consecutive weeks to remain unbeaten.

8. Staley ... 4-1 ... Friday at William Chrisman ... After a couple of rough weeks, the Falcons’ defense got back on track last Friday.

9. Shawnee Mission West ... 2-1 ... Friday at Lawrence ... The Vikings took a seven-point lead into halftime against Blue Springs, but couldn’t get out with a victory.

10. Lee’s Summit ... 4-1 ... Friday at Lee’s Summit North ... The Tigers’ spread offense has accounted for 37.6 points per game this season.

SMALL-CLASS TOP FIVE

1. Kearney ... 5-0 ... Friday vs. Belton ... The Bulldogs’ defense pitched a shutout Friday and added a touchdown via senior Ethan Luft.

2. Bishop Miege ... 2-1 ... Friday vs. Blue Valley North ... Miege’s signature win came last week, with a 27-point drubbing of St. Thomas Aquinas.

3. Louisburg ... 3-0 ... Friday vs. Eudora ... Louisburg added a 14-point win last week over league foe De Soto to its resume.

4. Center ... 5-0 ... Friday vs. Clinton ... Norvell Trent ran for a pair of touchdowns in a key win against St. Pius X.

5. Basehor-Linwood ... 3-0 ... Friday at Independence ... The Bobcats, averaging 63 points a game, have rolled to three victories.
