Craig Broswick wins Kansas City Match Play championship

Craig Broswick took command late in the match and won the final of the Kansas City Match Play golf championship Sunday at Swope Memorial Golf Course.

Broswick, a Lee’s Summit native who now lives in Kansas City, defeated Jackson Foth 2 and 1 in the final.

“It’s awesome,” Broswick said. “Words can’t describe it. I have never won anything like this.”

The match was tied after Foth won the 11th hole, but Boswick responded by winning Nos. 13 and 16 with pars. He clinched the title when both golfers made par on No. 17.

Broswick advanced to the final by defeating Michael Greene in 22 holes during the semifinals earlier Sunday.

Broswick was down late in that match but tied it by winning Nos. 16 and 18. After both golfers made pars on the first three extra holes, Broswick won with another par.
