Sean Dougherty to play for U.S. team in PGA Cup

Sean Dougherty of Leawood, the head professional at Oakwood Country Club in Kansas City, was chosen to the 10-member United States roster for the PGA Cup tournament Sept. 18-20 at at CordeValle in San Martin, Calif.

Dougherty was chosen to the team based on his performance at last week’s PGA Championship, in which he shot 79 and 81 and missed the cut.

The U.S. team will face a team from Great Britain and Ireland. The U.S. team beat Great Britain and Ireland 17 1/2 to 8 1/2 in 2011.
