Blue Hills Country Club will be the new site of the Web.com Tour’s stop in Kansas City.

The PGA Tour on Tuesday announced a five-year partnership with Blue Hills. The KC Golf Classic will be played May 6-12, 2019.

The event started in 2009 and has been played at Nicklaus Golf Club at LionsGate in Overland Park.

Blue Hills opened in 1912 and relocated to its currently location in south Kansas City in 1963. The Robert Dunning design features a 7,347-yard layout that has been the site of several U.S. Open qualifiers and USGA events.

For 25 years, Blue Hills was the site of the Children’s Mercy Hospital Golf Classic hosted by Tom Watson.

“We are thrilled to announce these exciting new developments for the KC Golf Classic,” said KC Golf Classic executive director Drew Van Meeteren. “Blue Hills Country Club is a first-class facility with a rich history here in Kansas City.”

Kansas City will remain a regular stop of the Web.com Tour.

“Today’s announcement ensures the strong future of professional golf in Kansas City,” said 2019 Blue Hills Country Club president Mike Wagner.” Blue Hills has a long tradition of supporting golf and charitable organizations in Kansas City, and we feel this is an important next step in carrying that into the future.”
