Robert Streb shoots 80 in first round at Masters
Robert Streb, a K-State graduate and Shawnee resident, posted an 80 on Thursday in his first round at Augusta National Golf Club, finishing way off the lead at 8-over par.
Streb opened the day with a 3-over 39 on the front nine, but his round fell apart down the stretch. He recorded a 6 on the Par-3 16 and followed that up with bogeys on 17 and 18. Streb, who celebrated his 28th birthday on Tuesday, is playing his first career major. But barring a very low round on Friday, Streb’s stay in Augusta may just last two days.
