Can kids watch World Cup games at Power & Light? New changes for KC venue

Following free watch parties supporting the United States, Mexico, Argentina, the Netherlands and Germany’s national soccer teams during the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the KC Live! block is making some rule changes.

At previous gatherings, like the event for Mexico’s eventual 2-0 victory over Ecuador on Tuesday, June 30, fans under the age of the 21 could enter the entertainment center before 8 p.m. In a social media post, officials with the Power & Light District said the entertainment center is moving that time up.

Ahead of the United States’ 7 p.m. match against Bosnia and Herzegovina on Wednesday, July 1, only patrons ages 21 and up will be allowed inside the premises starting at 5 p.m.

“Safety is our top priority for all guests,” the Power & Light District said on social media. “See you for Soccer in the City today!”

A pre-match party begins at 6 p.m., and it’s expected that fans will line up outside hours before game time. If the venue reaches the 8,000 capacity, an overflow section will be located on Walnut Street in between 13th and 14th streets.

Entry to the venue is still free, and you do not need to reserve a ticket in advance. It’s unknown if the change will continue for future watch parties hosted by the venue.
