Downtown Kansas City was filled by a sea of orange Thursday morning.
The Orange Walk put on by devotees of the Netherlands national team — and more than a few locals joining in for fun — was a party from start to finish, and everyone was involved.
At 9 a.m. or even earlier, fans gathered in Power & Light, clad in orange shirts, face paint, wigs and more. Thousands processed down Grand Boulevard with the iconic “Oranje Bus” and paused every so often to dance to the team’s unofficial anthem “Links Rechts” by Snollebollekes.
Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas, comedian David Koechner and KC Current owners Angie and Chris Long were among the notable figures who joined the party.
The Netherlands will take on Tunisia Thursday night at Kansas City (Arrowhead) Stadium.
