Soccer fever is ramping up in Kansas City as the 2026 FIFA World Cup nears.

With about 100 days remaining until the global soccer tournament, KC’s Power & Light District, a hub of live-sports watching, is putting its anticipatory energy on full display.

To celebrate and welcome the thousands of soccer fans who will soon be coming to Kansas City, the district and H&R Block used country bar PBR Big Sky to wrap 50-foot-long supporters’ scarves — a soccer staple — around the neon cowgirl installation on its building.

It is the first time the sign has been altered since PBR Big Sky opened in 2008.

The same scarves, created by U.S.-based Ruffneck Scarves, will be available to fans for a limited time as part of the “Soccer in the City Scarf Series,” presented by H&R Block. The scarves on the cowgirl sign are the largest Ruffneck has ever created.

Four teams competing in the World Cup will have base camps in Kansas City. A total of seven teams will play matches at Arrowhead Stadium from June 16 to June 27. Arrowhead will also play host to a quarterfinal match.
