FIFA announces discount ticket price for fans of teams playing in 2026 World Cup
Tickets on the secondary market for Argentina’s opening match against Algeria at the 2026 World Cup in Kansas City currently start at more than $700.
That could price out some fans, but FIFA announced Tuesday it was offering discount tickets for supporters of the teams playing in the World Cup. The idea is to give those fans a chance to buy tickets at a discounted price, so they can see their team play.
FIFA said the “Supporter Entry Tier” will have a fixed price of $60 per ticket for every match from Mexico’s match against South Africa on June 11 that will open the tournament to the World Cup final on July 19.
The tickets will be made available to each nation’s soccer federation, which will be tasked with distributing them to fans.
“They are requested to ensure that these tickets are specifically allocated to loyal fans who are closely connected to their national teams,” FIFA wrote in a news release.
The Athletic reported the $60 tickets will make up “1.6% of the total tickets available for each match, with 0.8% of the total going to supporters of each team.”
FIFA estimated the capacity for games at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium will be 67,513, but said that could change. Using that number, that means 1,080 tickets will be sold at the $60 level for matches in Kansas City.
There already have been 20 million requests for tickets for next summer’s World Cup, FIFA said.
