Is it too late to get tickets to Kansas City’s FIFA World Cup games? How to buy

Kansas City now knows which countries are playing at what FIFA will call Kansas City Stadium in six months, when the World Cup takes place throughout Canada, Mexico and the United States.

The city will see Algeria, Argentina, Austria, Curaçao, the Netherlands and Tunisia for four group-stage matches, and then it’ll see more teams make their way to Kansas City during the knockout rounds. If the stars align perfectly, Kansas City could see Portugal play Argentina, which could host the last time superstars Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi face off against each other on the pitch.

Fans have had opportunities to purchase tickets after signing up for lotteries over the last couple of months, and they’ll have a couple of more chances if they missed out.

How to get tickets to FIFA World Cup games in Kansas City

The next chance to get FIFA World Cup tickets for games at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium will come during the Random Selection Draw lottery. Sign up for the draw takes place from Thursday, Dec. 11, to Tuesday, Jan. 13, where interested fans will need to sign in with or create their FIFA ID, enter the draw and apply for tickets to the specific matches.

Those chosen will be able to buy the tickets in February at the listed price on FIFA’s website. Tickets were split into four categories based on where the seats are located. Take a look at the map, shared by soccer journalist James Nalton:

For example, if you bought a ticket for Category 2, your seat will be somewhere in the red sections on the seating chart.

Here’s what they were priced in November, according to The Athletic:

Group stages

  • Category 1: $410
  • Category 2: $310
  • Category 3: $140
  • Category 4: $60-$70

Round of 32 stage

  • Category 1: $470
  • Category 2: $385
  • Category 3: $180
  • Category 4: $125

Quarterfinal stage

  • Category 1: $1,265
  • Category 2: $940
  • Category 3: $535
  • Category 4: $275

Did you miss out if you aren’t selected for the Random Selection Draw?

If you aren’t selected by FIFA’s Random Selection Draw to buy tickets, you will have one more shot to buy tickets at face value through FIFA. The soccer organization will offer a final “first-come-first-served” or “last-minute sales” phase in the springtime, according to The Athletic.

If any tickets are left from the lottery phases, they will be sold at this stage.

Are resale tickets for the FIFA World Cup in Kansas City available?

You can purchase tickets through resale sites like StubHub, but FIFA warns that there is a risk if you do so. The organization says tickets sold on unofficial resale websites, social media or through third-party vendors may be fake.

“These fraudulent tickets can look legitimate but may be rejected at the stadium gate, leaving you without entry on match day,” FIFA says on its website.

If you do go this route, here are the lowest prices for the six games at Arrowhead Stadium on StubHub:

  • Algeria vs Argentina, June 16: $857
  • Curaçao vs. Ecuador, June 20: $313
  • Netherlands vs. Tunisia, June 25: $325
  • Austria vs. Algeria, June 27: $221
  • Round of 32, July 3: $790
  • Quarterfinal, July 11: $1,793
