If the scene around the KC Live! stage in the Power & Light District on Friday was any indication, Kansas City is hyped for the World Cup to come to town next year.
Despite the cold, hundreds packed the KC watch party for the 2026 World Cup draw. Onlookers cheered as FIFA divided the 48 participating nations’ soccer teams into 12 groups ahead of next year’s international tournament.

On Saturday, matchups and an official schedule for the 72 group-stage games — including four to be played at Arrowhead Stadium (plus a Round of 32 match and quarterfinal later on) — will be announced.
