UMKC comes up short in 85-78 loss to Grand Canyon
There was no home-court advantage for UMKC on Saturday night.
The Kangaroos’ losing streak reached five games with an 85-78 loss to Grand Canyon at Municipal Auditorium.
Martez Harrison returned to UMKC’s lineup and scored 20 points. Kyle Steward and LaVell Boyd scored 13 points, and Dashawn King added 12 for the Kangaroos. Steward also grabbed 10 rebounds.
Guard Joshua Braun led the Antelopes with 31 points and 10 rebounds.
Braun was 6 of 9 on three-pointers and scored 18 during the second half. Braun topped 30 points for the second time in three games after setting a career high of 34 in a 99-88 win over Utah Valley last Saturday.
The Kangaroos are 8-13 overall and 1-5 in the Western Athletic Conference. The Antelopes, who won their 11th straight, are 18-2 overall and 5-0 in the conference.
The Antelopes were 10 of 17 from three-point range, with Ryan Majerle, nephew of coach Dan Majerle, making all three of his long-range attempts for nine points.
Grand Canyon used a 12-0 run to lead 65-51 and made all eight free throws in the final minute to hold off a late rally from UMKC. The Kangaroos closed within five with 47 seconds to go.
