UMKC’s Martez Harrison chosen preseason WAC men’s basketball player of year by coaches
UMKC guard Martez Harrison was selected Western Athletic Conference preseason men’s basketball player of the year by the league’s coaches Wednesday.
Harrison won the honor as a sophomore last season after leading the league in scoring at 17.5 points per game and total assists with 129 and steals with 60.
Harrison wasn’t the preseason choice by the league media. That went to New Mexico State’s Pascal Siakam, a forward who was chosen WAC freshman of the year last season.
Harrison was selected to both preseason All-WAC teams.
The Kangaroos were picked to finish third in the media poll and fourth by the coaches. New Mexico State was the top choice in both polls.
The UMKC women were picked to finish seventh by the league coaches and media.
