Kansas City Roos women pull another upset in the Summit League basketball tournament
The Kansas City Roos women’s basketball team keeps dancing this weekend.
The Roos pulled another upset in the Summit League tournament, beating No. 2 seed North Dakota State 71-64 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota on Saturday.
With the victory, Kansas City advances to the semifinals of the tournament. The Roos, the No. 10 seed, beat Denver on Friday.
All that, after losing eight straight games to close out the regular season.
On Saturday, Kansas City, which shot 50% from the field for the game, built up a 41-29 lead by halftime. North Dakota State, though, rallied by outscoring the Roos 25-15 in the third quarter. But the Roos took care of business for the victory in the fourth quarter.
Manna Mensah once again led the way for KC. She scored a game-high 24 points. E’Lease Stafford added 17 points and six rebounds, while Tamia Ugass had nine points and pulled down 11 rebounds.
The Roos upped their record to 12-21 on the season. They will square off in the semifinals on Monday against the winner of the quarterfinal game between No. 3 seed North Dakota and No. 6 seed Omaha.
