Three UMKC athletes and one staff member have tested positive for COVID-19, the school announced Wednesday.

Testing in preparation for returning to practice for the fall semester included 70 athletes and staff members. Kansas City athletics officials have been guided by medical professionals at Truman Medical Centers and are in compliance with local, federal and university health and safety guidelines.

Those who tested positive are required to isolate for a minimum of 10 days and until the patient is without fever for 72 hours without medication. Also, athletes must be cleared to return to campus by medical staff at the university’s Student Health and Wellness Center.

Kansas City sponsors 14 sports, six for men and eight for women.
